Don Lark przez długi czas zajmował się budowaniem domów; teraz jednak zarabia na życie remontowaniem już istniejących posiadłości, które mają być wystawione na sprzedaż. Gdy trafia do XIX-wiecznego budynku zwanego „Domem Bellamych” (po jednej z rodzin, które tam kiedyś mieszkały), spodziewa się, że wszystko przebiegnie jak zwykle: remont, sprzedaż… Jednak okazuje się, że nie wszystko jest takie, jak się wydaje…
Wszystko zaczyna się od pojawienia się w domu tajemniczej młodej dziewczyny, Sylvie. Upiera się ona, że jest jego lokatorką i błaga, żeby mężczyzna pozwolił jej zostać. Z biegiem czasu jej zachowanie staje się coraz dziwniejsze – ale nie tylko to zastanawia Dona. Gdy jego narzędzia zaczynają zmieniać swoje położenie, a Sylvie upiera się, że nie ma z tym nic wspólnego, budowlaniec zaczyna coraz bardziej się denerwować… a później również bać. W krótkim czasie jego życie gwałtownie się odmienia. Tajemniczy tunel odkryty przez niego w piwnicy posiadłości, znalezione w nim zwłoki, opowieść Sylvie na temat jej życia, 3 dziwne kobiety mieszkające w domu obok… To wszystko, oraz zjawiska rodem z „Paranormal Activity”, których jest świadkiem, powoduje, że Don zmienia swój pogląd na świat. To, co uważał za niemożliwe, nagle okazuje się zupełnie możliwe – i coraz bardziej przerażające.

Don Lark dealt with building the houses for a long time; Now, however, he renovates the existing properties that are to be put up for sale for a living. When sent to the nineteenth-century building known as the „House of Bellamy” (one of the families that lived there once), he expects that everything will go as usual: renovation, sale… But it turns out that not everything is as it seems…
Everything starts with the showing up of the young girl, Sylvie, in the house. She insists that she is its tenant and begs the man to let her stay. Over time, her behavior becomes increasingly strange – but not only that wonders Don. When the tools are beginning to change their location, and Sylvie insists that she has nothing to do with it, the builder starts getting more and more nervous… and then also scared. In a short time, his life is changing rapidly. The mysterious tunnel discovered by him in the basement of the property, the body found in it, Sylvie’s story about her life, three strange women living in the house next door… That all, and events straight from the „Paranormal Activity” which he witnesses, makes Don change his view of the world. What he thought was impossible, suddenly turns out to be entirely possible – and increasingly frightening.
Who is Sylvie and why doesn’t she want to leave the house? How is she and the story of her life connected to the corpse found in a tunnel under the house? Why do the residents of the neighboring property behave as if they knew something that nobody else knows? What are the reasons of the mysterious phenomenon experienced by Don?
