„I’ve already found the dress, now I just have to wait for the princess who decides to kiss and marry me when I’m a prince again!” Someone should probably make the frog realise that there are no more princesses in Kraków, and most of the „ordinary” women have long ceased to believe that kissing a frog’s muzzle will allow them to find an enchanted prince! The photo was taken on Długa Street in Kraków.

Niedziela Palmowa… Kiedy go dostałam, „Dziadek Mróz” był płaską paczką z 4 kawałkami materiału i kłębkiem kolorowych nici w środku.
A wonderful gift that I got from my friends from the USA – officially „Jack Frost”, but I associate him more with the personification of the Old Year. When I got him, „Jack Frost” was a flat package with 4 pieces of cloth and a bundle of coloured threads inside. The inscription in the picture depicting the expected final effect stated that putting these elements together would be „easy”, but it was not. 😀 Well, one thing is certain: the end result is just as wonderful as what the designer of the project envisaged.

Annual Krakow New Year’s Run. Supposedly nothing unusual, but take a good look… Do you see this informative post on the road? It’s one of the runners: lol: Anyone who wants to can come to this run in disguise; the best outfit gets the prize at the end of the event. The start and finish line are on Szczepański Square, while I stumbled upon this man on Floriańska Street. In another place, I met a group of runners carrying a huge game board – probably Mensch ärgere dich nicht, given that they were accompanied by two people in pointy Chinese hats*. This group and the „post” shown in the picture were the most memorable for me.
*this game has 2 names in Polish: one that is literally translated from German („człowieku, nie denerwuj się” – „do not get angry, man”) and one that literally means „the Chinese [man]”; the people whom I saw most probably dressed up to match the second one.

Our brain is focused on recognizing human facial features so as to be able to respond effectively to the emotions of others. This is the price for our socialization. The facial facial recognition system must work quickly and efficiently, so it is susceptible to a lot of skepticism. Lack of time for long analysis causes the brain to finally see faces even where they are not.
Our mind is looking for known patterns, if several elements are aligned with each other in a similar place to the eyes, mouth and nose, and in addition has a similar shape to them, then this pattern is qualified by the appropriate neurons for the „face” category.

The author of this „invention” is my father – Jerzy Cisek. There’s a hole drilled in the base, in which rests a small, portable speaker connected to the phone via Bluetooth. The „boy” is a painter’s mannequin, whose head was replaced with a nattery-powered lamp. The rectangular element in the „boy’s” hands is used as a stand for the phone, so you can e.g. watch the video without holding the device in your hand. The video and lyrics of the song from which the quote comes are available here: https://monikacisek.pl/hallelujah/

Little My went on a trip to the Mogilski Forest with me… but I think she didn’t like it there because she kept grumbling terribly! The soundtrack comes from the audio file library of the Movavi programme in which I made this clip.
I dedicate this work to my parents (with thanks for their help in making a photo session) and my friend Konrad, who gave Little My ideas for her statements. 😉

Music: Julius Fucik, „Entry Of The Gladiators”

Zdjęcia w filmiku zostały zrobione w Lesie Mogilskim. Pliki audio ściągnęłam z serwisu YouTube. Są to, w kolejności występowania:

2. Czołówka serialu animowanego „Dziwne przygody Koziołka Matołka” nakręconego w latach 1969–1971 w Studiu Miniatur Filmowych, adaptacji komiksu „120 przygód Koziołka Matołka” (1933) Kornela Makuszyńskiego i Mariana Walentynowicza.

3. Czołówka serialu animowanego „Dziwny świat Kota Filemona” emitowanego w latach 1972–1974. Wyprodukowany został w Studiu Małych Form Filmowych Se-Ma-For. Autorami scenariusza byli Marek Nejman oraz Irena Sobańska. Bohaterami były 2 koty: tytułowy kociak Filemon (biały z brązowymi cętkami w kilku miejscach ciała) i stary, doświadczony kocur Bonifacy (czarny; to do niego miała nawiązywać figurka z moich zdjęć)

The photos in the video were taken in the Mogilski Forest. I downloaded the audio files from YouTube. These are, in order of appearance:

1. Excerpt from the first episode of the animated series „Kidnapping of Baltazar Gąbka*” realised in the years 1969–1970 on the basis of a book by Stanisław Pagaczewski entitled „Kidnapping of Baltazar Gąbka” (1965). The Wawel Dragon from this series was very similar to my figurine…

2. The opening credits of the animated series „Strange Adventures of Matołek the Billy-Goat”, shot in the years 1969–1971 at the Studio Miniatur Filmowych**, an adaptation of the comic book „120 Adventures of Matołek the Billy-Goat” (1933) by Kornel Makuszyński and Marian Walentynowicz. This series is quite loosely related to comics. The fragment quoted in the video is an ‚introduction’ at the beginning of each episode of the cartoon, spoken by the narrator. Unlike my figurine, Matołek from comics and TV series was white and wore red shorts.

3. The opening credits of the animated series „Strange World of Filemon the Cat” broadcast in the years 1972–1974. It was produced in the Studio Małych Form Filmowych Se-Ma-For***. The authors of the script were Marek Nejman and Irena Sobańska. The protagonists were 2 cats: the title kitten Filemon (white with brown spots in several parts of the body) and the old, experienced cat Bonifacy**** (black; it was him that the figurine from my photos was supposed to refer to)
