„Uwaga na kieszonkowców!” "Beware of pickpockets!"
Praga, Czechy. Po jednym z głównych placów przechadzają się policjanci. W pewnej chwili jeden z nich zwraca się do drugiego:
– Spójrz, jeszcze jeden. Ileż jeszcze ich znajdziemy? Trzeba to zdjąć, zanim ktoś się zainteresuje… Chodź, pospieszmy się.
Mężczyźni podchodzą do znaku „Uwaga na kieszonkowców!”, demontują go szybko i odchodzą. W ciągu tego dnia zrobili to już kilkanaście razy – a zrobią następnych kilkanaście. Dlaczego? Czy stróże prawa chcą utrudnić swoim współpracownikom ostrzeganie obywateli przed złodziejami? A może mają swój własny, dziwny powód?
To nie inni policjanci ustawiali te znaki, tylko sami kieszonkowcy. Po przeczytaniu ostrzeżenia, ludzie natychmiast zaczynali przeszukiwać kieszenie i torby, aby upewnić się, że wszystkie pieniądze, dokumenty i inne ważne rzeczy są na miejscu. W tym czasie złodzieje przyglądali się im uważnie. Policja dowiedziała się o tym i na bieżąco usuwała znaki, aby obywatele nieświadomie nie pomagali się okraść.
Prague, Czech Republic. The policemen are strolling over one of the main squares. At one point one of them addresses the other:
„Look, another one. How many more of them do we find? We have to take it off before anyone becomes interested… Come on, let’s hurry.”
The men come up to the sign „Beware of pickpockets!”, dismantle it quickly and go away. They’ve already done that a dozen or so times this day – and they will do a next dozen or so. Why? Do the law enforcement officers want to complicate warning citizens against thieves for their colleagues? Or they have their own strange reason?
It was not the other police officers who put the signs up, but the pickpockets themselves. After reading the warning, people immediately began to search through their pockets and bags to make sure that all of the money, documents, and other important things are in place. During this time the thieves watched them carefully. The police found out about it and kept removing the signs that citizens didn’t unknowingly helped to pickpocket themselves.
