Miałam na myśli świętego Jerzego, patrona m.in. artystów. Jeż został wykorzystany ze względu na podobieństwo brzmieniowe jego nazwy do imienia tego człowieka.
I meant saint George, patron saint of m. al. the artists. The hedgehog was used because of the sound similarity of this animal’s name to the name of this man… I mean, the Polish version of his name. George is called Jerzy in Polish, which is pronounced in almost the same way as jeż – the Polish word for hedgehog. The only difference is the ending in the name and the way the 2 words are written.
