“The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book”, Dr Gareth Moore

A więc pozwólcie, że przedstawię: Dr Gareth Moore, „The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book” (czyli Wielka księga zagadek Sherlocka Holmesa”).
Książka „The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book” nie została przetłumaczona na polski. Polska wersja tytułu jest moim własnym tłumaczeniem. Jeśli jednak znacie język angielski i macie ochotę spróbować swoich sił w rozwiązywaniu zagadek logicznych w stylu wielkiego detektywa, to zdecydowanie powinniście ją przeczytać.

Do you like solving logic puzzles? Do you love reading books and stories about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, then this book is the perfect read for you. It wasn’t actually written by the brilliant Arthur Conan Doyle, but the author did his best to keep it close enough. So let me introduce: Dr Gareth Moore, “The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book”.
Dr Gareth Moore is the author of many puzzle books. However, this particular title is different from most of his works. Written from the perspective of Dr John H. Watson, a friend of Sherlock Holmes, it is a collection of riddles and puzzles that the famous detective was to give him to solve on various occasions during the several years of their collaboration. Some of them are also related to the cases they solved together. These are, for example, coded messages or rebuses to help them find the perpetrator of the crime, as well as tricky questions asked by the detective to the doctor. In one of the riddles, Holmes asks a woman who is asking him for help a question seemingly unrelated to her problem… and the reader’s task is to understand how what he asked helped him solve a murder case. Sounds interesting, right? And if you have trouble finding the correct answer to any of the riddles, just look at the end of the book. There you can find the correct solutions to all the puzzles.
“The Great Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Book” has not been translated into Polish and I’m not aware of the existence of any translations to other languages. However, if you know English and want to try your hand at solving logical puzzles in the style of a great detective, then you should definitely read it. It can also be used as a language learning aid.
