Wakacje
Holidays

Wakacje…

Holidays… a classic, hot summer. And yet the owners of one house didn’t go out of it. Literally: they didn’t budge out of it. They behaved very quietly and turned the lights on only when all the blinds and curtains were drawn. They continued this lifestyle for a few days… But the police arrested them anyway. Why? Did they commit a crime and were hiding from punishment? Or maybe there was some other, „more interesting” cause of strange behaviour of these people?

Answer

These people were very poor, but also proud. In order to maintain a semblance of wealth, they boasted to the neighbours about going on a luxury holiday, where they would spend two weeks. They left the house early in the morning and sneaked back at night, unnoticed by anyone. They were hiding well, but one day a neighbour saw a streak of light seeping from an improperly curtained window. He called the police, thinking it was a burglar.
