Dziś przychodzę do was z publikacją, w której tworzeniu brałam udział: „The Story od Dr Dolittle. Dr Dolittle i jego zwierzęta”, która ukazała się nakładem wydawnictwa EDGARD.
Książka ta jest adaptacją oryginału dzieła Hugh Loftinga, przygotowaną dla początkujących czytelników, którzy znają już podstawowe słownictwo i potrafią budować proste zdania w języku angielskim. Tekst jest podzielony na krótkie fragmenty, w których zaznaczono trudniejsze słówka – ich tłumaczenia znajdują się na marginesach. Dodatkowo na każdej stronie znajduje się ilustracja przedstawiająca opisywaną scenę. Dodatkowo, z tyłu książki znajduje się polskie tłumaczenie całego tekstu oraz alfabetyczny słowniczek wszystkich słówek, które zostały przetłumaczone na marginesach. Znajdujące się na końcu ciekawe ćwiczenia pomogą dzieciom przećwiczyć rozumienie tekstu czytanego (zadanie typu „True/False”) oraz utrwalić nowe słownictwo (siedem zadań różnego typu). Odpowiedzi można sprawdzić na końcu książki. Oprócz tego, z publikacji można wyciąć karty do gry Memory: część z nich zawiera słówka, a część pasujące do nich ilustracje. Dzieci mogą także poznać prawidłową wymowę nowych słówek dzięki nagraniu mp3 całego tekstu stworzonemu przez native speakera.
„The Story of Dr Dolittle. Doktor Dolittle i jego zwierzęta” to część serii „Czytam po angielsku”, dzięki której najmłodsi mogą uczyć się angielskiego w przyjemny sposób, jednocześnie poznając klasykę literatury.

Today, I bring you a publication that I helped to create: „The Story od Dr Dolittle. Dr Dolittle i jego zwierzęta”, published by EDGARD.
This book is an adaptation of Hugh Lofting’s original work, prepared for beginner readers who already know basic vocabulary and can form simple sentences in English. The text is divided into short sections, in which more difficult words are highlighted – their translations can be found in the margins. Additionally, each page features an illustration that depicts the scene being described. Additionally, at the back of the book, there is a Polish translation of the entire text, along with an alphabetical glossary of all the words translated in the margins. The interesting exercises at the end will help children practise their reading comprehension (a True/False task) and consolidate new vocabulary (seven different tasks of different kinds). The answers can be found at the end of the book. In addition, Memory game cards can be cut out from the publication: some of them contain words and some contain matching illustrations. Children can also learn the correct pronunciation of new vocabulary items thanks to an MP3 recording of the entire text created by a native speaker.
„The Story od Dr Dolittle. Dr Dolittle i jego zwierzęta” is part of the „Czytam po angielsku” („I read in English”) series, which allows children to learn English in a fun way while discovering classic literature.
