— Czy znalazła Pani jakieś ślady wskazujące na możliwą przyczynę śmierci? — Ravelis zwrócił się do lekarki sądowej, dr Ogden.
— Na razie nie. Nie widzę żadnych siniaków, zadrapań ani innych uszkodzeń ciała… Potrzebna będzie sekcja zwłok.
W tym momencie policjant wskazał palcem na podłogę obok łóżka. — Proszę spojrzeć, to może być poszlaka…
Detektyw spojrzał na wskazane miejsce. Na parkiecie leżały nożyczki. Ravelis przykucnął, żeby lepiej się im przyjrzeć, po czym spojrzał na łóżko i denatkę. — Masz rację, Kyle. Chyba domyślam się, co się tu stało. Ciekawe, czy sekcja to potwierdzi…
Co było przyczyną śmierci pani Faster?
“What do we have here?” asked Detective Ravelis, approaching the police officer.
“The victim is Anna Faster, aged 75, a widow. She was found by her daughter, who came to the house, concerned because she hadn’t heard from her for a long time. She found the old lady here, on the bed.”
“Have you found any signs pointing to a possible cause of death?” Ravelis asked the forensic pathologist, Dr Ogden.
“Not yet. I can’t see any bruises, scratches or other physical injuries… An autopsy will be necessary.”
At that moment, the policeman pointed to the floor next to the bed. „Look, this might be a clue…”
The detective looked at the spot he was pointing to. A pair of scissors lay on the wooden floor. Ravelis crouched down to get a better look at them, then glanced at the bed and the deceased. „You’re right, Kyle. I think I can guess what happened here. I wonder if the post-mortem will confirm it…”
