ZAGADKA OWCA JPG

  1. Przewieźć owcę na drugi brzeg i zostawić ją tam, wrócić do punktu wyjścia.
  2. Zabrać na drugi brzeg główkę kapusty, zostawić ją, po czym wsadzić owcę do łodzi i zawieźć ją do miejsca, z którego zaczął podróż.
  3. Zostawić owcę w punkcie startowym, zabrać do łódki wilka i odwieźć go na drugi brzeg.
  4. Wrócić tam, gdzie wszystko się zaczęło, zabrać owcę i przewieźć ją na drugi brzeg.

A ferryman faces the following problem:

He must overcome the river in a small boat and transport the wolf, sheep and a head of cabbage to the other side at the same time. Unfortunately, the boat is so small that apart from himself only one animal or cabbage will fit in it. Then the sheep cannot be alone with the cabbage, because it will devour it. A wolf will also devour a sheep if alone with it on the shore. How should a man act to carry everything to the other side and avoid the loss of sheep or cabbage?

Answer

Here’s what the ferryman has to do:

  1. Take the sheep to the other side and leave it there, return to the starting point.
  2. Take the head of cabbage to the other side, leave it, then put the sheep into a boat and take it to the place where the journey began.
  3. Leave the sheep at the starting point, take wolf into the boat and take it to the other side.
  4. Go back to where it all started, take a sheep and carry it to the other side.
